The anti-establishment and drug-fueled mindset of the 1960's brought to the forefront of society major musicians, some of whom who chose to adapt to this newfound carefree and colorful culture such as the Beatles and others like Bob Dylan who maintained their ways of life and music despite societal pressures.

The psychedelic era of the 1960s brought many widely known artists such as the Beatles to change their sound and style into one which was more colorful and hallucinogenic, yet other artists such as Bob Dylan chose to remain with their original habits despite pressures from society.

Bob Dylan's main purpose as a musician was simply to write and perform songs based on pure inspiration while the Beatles wrote music which sprang from the emerging counterculture and it is these clashing motives which caused artistic conversation between the musicians.
